Stones you can actually look at
A stone on a screen tells you almost nothing. Colour shifts under different light, inclusions that sound alarming on paper disappear at arm's length, and two stones with identical paperwork can look nothing alike in the hand.
So we would rather you came and looked. We will put them on a tray, turn the light on them, and let you take as long as you want.
Loose, or set into something
If you already have a setting, bring it — we will tell you whether a stone you like will actually seat in it or whether the seat needs cutting. If you have a stone and no setting, that is a custom job and we will draw it with you at the counter.
Some stones need handling
Opal, emerald and pearl do not like heat, and they do not like being treated like a diamond. If you are buying one, we will tell you what it needs so it lasts. That is the kind of thing a chain store counter will not mention.
What it costs
Prices move with the metal market and with the piece itself, so we would rather show you than quote you down a phone line. Come and see what is in the case, try it on, and we will tell you exactly where it sits. Layaway and SNAP financing are both available.

Questions we get asked
Do you sell loose stones?
Yes, loose or already set. If you want one set into a piece we do that at our own bench, most of them the same day.
Do you carry birthstones?
All twelve. If we do not have the one you want in the size you want, we will find it.
Can you set a stone I bring in?
Yes. Bring the stone and the setting if you have one, and we will tell you whether it seats or whether the seat needs cutting before anything is committed to.
What should I know about emeralds and opals?
They are softer and they do not take heat the way a diamond does. That affects how they are set, cleaned and worn. We will talk you through it at the counter rather than letting you find out later.
