The good news about CZ
Cubic zirconia is made rather than mined, which means a matching replacement exists in a drawer. A chipped or missing CZ is generally a replace-and-set job rather than a hunt, and that makes it one of the more straightforward things we do.
What comes in most
- A stone that has fallen out and needs replacing and setting.
- A CZ that has gone cloudy or dull — sometimes cleaning, sometimes a swap.
- A chipped stone, replaced with a match.
- Prongs tightened or rebuilt.
- Ring sizing on CZ pieces.
- Earrings and pendants where the stone has loosened.
Why CZ clouds over time
It is softer than diamond, so the surface picks up fine scratching from years of wear, and lotions and soaps leave a film. A clean fixes some of it. A stone that has genuinely gone soft on the surface is better replaced, and we will tell you which yours is.
Swapping a CZ for something else
Plenty of people bring us a CZ piece and want a diamond, a moissanite or a coloured stone in it instead. The mount usually takes it. Bring the piece in and tell us what you are thinking.

Every piece is different and CZ work especially so. Put it on the counter, tell us what has happened, and we will tell you what we see and what we would do about it. You decide from there, before anything is agreed.
