Check the box first
If the watch was sized when it was bought, the removed links are very often still in the original box, in a little bag or taped inside the lid. They are the perfect match by definition and they cost nothing. This is the first thing worth checking before you come in.
If you do not have them
Matching a link means matching the finish, the width, the thickness and the exact way it pins or screws together. On common bracelets that is often possible. On some it is genuinely not, and we will tell you rather than fit something that reads as wrong from across a table.
The alternatives
- The clasp micro-adjustment, which most bracelets have and most people never use.
- An extension or half link, for when a full link is too much.
- A different strap entirely — leather, rubber, mesh or NATO, which sidesteps the problem.
- Repositioning the clasp so the existing links sit better on the wrist.

Fitting is usually while you wait. Sourcing a link takes longer and you will get a date.
