Gold with diamonds — a ring especially — is straightforward for us. Bring the whole piece rather than trying to work out what is worth what. We will look at the metal and the stones together and give you one answer.
Loose stones depend
Size, cut, colour, clarity and whether it has any paperwork all matter, and so does what the market wants at the time. Some loose stones we are keen on. Some we are not. We will tell you honestly which yours is rather than making an offer to be polite.
Bring any paperwork
A GIA or IGI report, an old appraisal, a receipt. None of it is required and plenty of good stones have no paperwork at all. But if you have it, it saves time and it helps.
Other stones
Rubies, sapphires, emeralds and the rest — it depends on the stone and on the market that day. Same answer as diamonds: bring it over and we will see what we can give you.
Questions we get asked
Do you buy loose diamonds?
It depends on the stone. Bring it in and we will look at it and tell you honestly.
Do I need a certificate?
No. It helps if you have one, but plenty of good stones have no paperwork.
What about rubies, sapphires and emeralds?
Bring them in. It depends on the stone and where the market is.
Should I bring the whole ring?
Yes. It is easier to value the piece together than in parts.
