Why rose gold is its own conversation
Rose gold gets its colour from copper in the alloy. How much copper, and what else is in there, varies from maker to maker, which means rose gold is not one colour. A repair done with the wrong solder shows as a pale or a red line, and once it is there it is hard to hide.
So we look at the piece, match to the actual shade in front of us, and tell you what to expect before we start.
What comes in most
- Broken chains and jump rings at a pendant.
- Ring sizing, where the join has to disappear into the colour.
- Clasps replaced with a matching one, not a yellow one.
- Bracelets that have given at a link.
- Earring posts and backs.
- Polishing, done lightly, because copper alloys can pick up a darker tone with heat.
Rose gold and heat
Copper reacts to heat differently to the other alloys. That is why a rose piece worked too hot can come out a shade off even when the solder was right. It is a reason to bring it to a bench that works rose regularly rather than occasionally.
Two-tone and tri-colour pieces
Rose next to yellow next to white in one piece is common, and each section has to be finished separately. Worth putting on the counter so we can show you what we would do.

Yes. The join has to disappear into the colour, which is the part that takes care.

Copper in the alloy can tone with wear and with heat. Bring it in and we will look at it.
Can you match a rose gold clasp?
We will look at the shade and match it rather than fitting a yellow one.
