Bracelets live a harder life
A necklace sits still. A bracelet gets dragged across every surface your wrist meets, catches on sleeves and takes the full weight of your arm swinging. That is why bracelets come in more often than anything except chains, and it is not a reflection on how yours was made.
What comes in most
- A break at a link, soldered and matched.
- A clasp that has stopped holding — box clasps and lobsters both tire.
- A missing safety catch, which is the difference between a scare and a loss.
- Length — links out or in so it sits right on your wrist.
- A stretched or opened link that has worn thin.
- A dented hollow bracelet, reshaped where possible.
- Charms and spacers that have come off.
Fit changes what breaks
A bracelet a link too long slides down over the hand, catches on everything and works the clasp constantly. Getting the length right is often the repair that stops the next repair. Wear it in and we will fit it on you as we go.
Add a safety catch
If yours does not have one and the clasp has already let go once, that is the cheap insurance. Worth asking about at the counter.
Bring it in and we will look at it
Every piece is different and bracelet work especially so. Put it on the counter, tell us what has happened, and we will tell you what we see and what we would do about it. You decide from there, before anything is agreed.
Questions we get asked
Can you fix a broken gold bracelet?
Yes, matched to the karat and colour, and usually same day.
Can you shorten my bracelet?
Yes. Wear it in and we will fit it on your wrist as we go. You keep any links that come out.
Can you add a safety catch?
Yes, and it is worth it if the clasp has let go before.
My bracelet is dented — can that come out?
On a hollow piece, often yes. Bring it in and we will look.
Will you tell me what you find before doing any work?
Always. We look at it with you at the counter, tell you what we see, and you decide.
Not sure we can fix it?
Send a couple of details and we will call you back. Or just walk in — it is quicker, and we can actually look at the piece.
