Which pin is it
A spring bar holds the strap to the case. It is sprung at both ends and they lose their spring or snap with age. This is the one that drops watches on the floor.
A link pin holds two bracelet links together. Friction pins push through, screw pins thread in, and split pins use a tiny collar that is very easy to lose.
Do not leave it
A bracelet held by one pin at a link will come apart at the worst possible moment. A watch on one spring bar is a watch that pivots off your wrist. Either way, it is a short job and a bad thing to postpone.
If you still have the pin
Bring it. Matching exactly is always better than getting close, and on a split pin the collar matters as much as the pin itself.
Check the rest while it is here
Pins in the same bracelet have had the same years. If one has walked out, others are working loose, and we will go over them.
Questions we get asked
Can you replace a watch pin?
Yes — spring bars, friction pins, screws and collars. Usually while you wait.
Should I bring the old one?
If you have it, yes. Matching exactly beats getting close.
Is it safe to wear in the meantime?
We would not. A bracelet on one pin comes apart, and a case on one spring bar pivots off.
Do you check the other pins?
Yes. They have had the same wear.
Not sure we can fix it?
Send a couple of details and we will call you back. Or just walk in — it is quicker, and we can actually look at the piece.
